The first tropical storm of the eastern Pacific tropical season is underway off the western coast of Mexico.
Tropical storm Andres had sustained winds of near 60 mph as of Monday evening and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane as it moves parallel to the west coast of Mexico, brushing past Manzanillo and Mazatlan. A hurricane warning is up for portions of the Mexican coast in these areas.
Those who have travel plans including cruises to this part of Mexico and Baja California will want to monitor the situation for itinerary updates.
By Thursday Andres is expected to weaken move just south of the southern tip of Baja California, possibly tossing some gusty winds and heavy rain/surf near Cabo San Lucus.
