ABERDEEN — An offshore worker has died in an accident on a diving support vessel four miles off Aberdeen.
The crewman on the Well Servicer, operated by Technip, was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the accident during sea trials.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital later on Wednesday evening.
Technip said the vessel had now returned to port and that an investigation into the fatality was under way.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been informed.
Grampian Police stressed the incident was completely unrelated to the Bond helicopter crash elsewhere in the North Sea, which went down with 16 people on board.
