A dive centre in Hampshire is offering two diving beginners the chance to train to PADI Divemaster level and to learn about the sports scuba diving industry, with scholarship funding.
Andark Diving and Watersports, of Lower Swanwick near Southampton, is offering the training with sponsorship from the diving computers manufacturer Suunto.
To qualify as PADI Divemasters, the trainees will undertake PADI’s Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Emergency First Responder (First Aid) and Rescue Diver courses.
Andark, which trains sport and commercial divers, has both an indoor pool and a recently opened outdoor training lake.
Applicants are expected to be complete diving beginners or to have obtained, at the most, a qualification of PADI Open Water.
They will need, says Andark, “masses of enthusiasm and commitment” – and should , of course, be interested in pursuing a career in the industry.
The most likely scenario is working in leisure diving, but a move toward commercial diving via Andark’s HSE Scuba course would also be a possibility.
