Ramboll has been selected as expert reviewer and geotechnical consultant on the North South Line, part of the Hong Kong metro.
The metro will help to make life easier for more than 1 million people every day.
Ramboll was selected by PY Pun-KD to provide geotechnical input for the underwater Cross Harbour Tunnel in Hong Kong. The tunnel will be an integral part in of the 17-kilometre Shatin to Central Link.
“This prestigious project will improve public transportation for more than 1 million commuters every day. The metro link will bring substantial social and economic benefits for Hong Kong,” says Ramboll Project Manager Sijbrand Sterkenburgh.
When complete, the Cross Harbour Tunnel will be a 1,400-metre immersed tube tunnel crossing Hong Kong’s Victoria harbour, located to the east of the existing cross-harbour immersed tube tunnels. The tunnel will consist of two tracks for metro trains.
“We will rely on our deep expertise from Nordic immersed tube tunnels such as the coming Fehmarn Belt tunnel and the Øresund tunnel for this project. The metro link promises to make life much easier for Hong Kong commuters and we are excited to be part of this project,” added Sterkenburgh.
