Norwegian energy firm Statoil said on Sunday it had shut its Statfjord C platform in the North Sea after a “limited” oil leak.

“The crew of 270 people mustered at the lifeboats, but they could quickly return to their living quarters. No personnel were injured,” Statoil said in a statement.

“It has been confirmed that a limited amount of oil has leaked into the sea. We are currently working on mapping the extent of the leak. The platform has been shut down,” it added.

Statfjord, including the A, B, and C platforms, produced about 23,000 barrels of oil per day in 2013, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate said earlier.
