INDONESIA — McDermott International subsidiary J. Ray McDermott S.A. has completed construction of a 14,000-tonne (13,779-ton) integrated deck built at its fabrication facility on Batam Island, Indonesia.
The North Belut Central Processing Platform (NBCPP) topsides were built for ConocoPhillips Indonesia and is the third large deck that J. Ray has built at Batam. The topsides have been loaded out of the Batam facility.
J. Ray’s scope of work included procurement of tertiary steel and bulks, construction engineering, fabrication, onshore commissioning and offshore hook-up and commissioning of the NBCPP. J. Ray also built the eight-leg steel jacket for NBCPP under a different contract that included construction engineering, procurement of tertiary steel and fabrication.
Work on the project began in January 2007 and at the peak of construction, more than 1,200 people worked on NBCPP topsides achieving 5.2 million man-hours without a lost time incident.
The North Belut field is located in Block B of the Indonesian sector of the Natuna Sea, around 60 kilometers (37 miles) east-northeast of the Belanak floating production, storage and offloading vessel installed in the Belanak field.
