Jean-Michel Cousteau is the son of the late Jacques-Yves Cousteau, a French naval officer and marine conservationist who has been very involved in underwater exploration, film-making and research including the development of the first Aqua-Lung device during World War II. His son Jean-Michel also shares the same passion when it comes to underwater and ocean exploration.
The family owns a 115 acre property on Petit St. Vincent located in the south part of Grenadines where he is planning to establish a dive center.
The center will focus primarily on providing guided dives and PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) certification for all diver levels. Aside from the center, other available facilities such as the existing dock and boathouse will be utilized by the program.
A naturalist and marine biologist staff will be on stand-by to handle guests that would like to take tours around the island and give them information regarding the zone’s marine ecosystems.
“We must connect the ocean to the existence of every human being,” said Cousteau. “Protect the ocean and you protect yourself.”
The dive center is set to be opened before the year ends.
