CNOOC Begins Constructing Deepwater Engineering Base

    China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) on Monday kicked off the construction of its deepwater engineering base in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone in Zhuhai of Guangdong province in south China.
    The deepwater engineering base, engaged in manufacturing of offshore oil and gas field equipment, involves a total investment of 5 billion yuan (US $732.07 million).
    CNOOC is presently operating four key projects in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone, including a Gaolan Port LNG station, Hengqin natural gas terminal, and a natural gas liquefaction project.
    Zhuhai is expected to become a marine engineering equipment manufacturing center within the next five years.
