Cameron has received an order worth in excess of $230 million for the supply of subsea production systems for Stage I of Chevron’s Jack & St. Malo subsea development in the Gulf of Mexico. The project will include 12 15,000-psi subsea trees, production control systems, four manifolds and associated connection systems, engineering and project management services. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2011 and continue through the second quarter of 2013.

VideoRay ROV Provides Emergency Images For Burley Subsea On A Middle Eastern Dredging Vessel Mishap

The following is a letter to VideoRay from United Arab Emirates Based Burley Subsea General Manager Mark Burley:

After a grueling Fouled Propeller job Burley Subsea was just glad to get back to the office.

0700 the following morning we get an Emergency Call out by Middle East Dredging Company. We quickly mobilize our VideoRay Pro 3 GTO ROV unit and Dive Spread and head back to Abu Dhabi. An hour later we’re on site and ready to access the Subsea situation to ascertain damage to the Dredging Ladder or the associated sheave blocks.

The vessel concerned, D’Artagnan, had been latching its dredging ladder when one of the engineers in the winch room noticed some damaged wires, before anything could be done the wires parted and subsequently the ladder dropped to the seabed at a depth of 16 meters in quite a rapid freefall due to the ladder weighing 1200 Tons.

Minutes after arriving on board we carried out our standard safety checks, met with the Captain / Client and were given permission to dive.

Seconds after the VideoRay left the surface we had an outstanding visual of the concerned area, the lifting blocks port and starboard and the associated sheaves, we could easily see the parted winch wire laying on the starboard side.

The Client and Captain of the vessel got to see first hand real time footage of the Subsea situation, not to mention aiding our on site Dive Supervisor plan the associated Task Risk Assessment before the Diver enters the water.

Throughout the different stages of lifting the blocks, salvaging the parted wire and looking for areas of damage on the Ladder itself and the sheave blocks, the VideoRay unit not only impressed the Client but also Burley Subsea’s ROV Manager, Lee Harris who is a veteran of the Heavy Construction Work Class ROV Industry.
