Companies have started and stopped by the dozen since I started in 1969, gents. Some fail, some are absorbed in buyouts. Divers move on. Today’s divers should continue learning skills and updating certifications to be prepared for any opportunity presenting itself. I don’t advocate skipping from employer to employer, but sometimes a move should be made before it is made FOR you.

If you are getting the job done and learning & practicing new skills but don’t get the jobs you are competent in, look around. DMT hands “on the street” – or anyone ready to change can contact me. S & J Diving is particularly interested in sat techs or sat superintendents who want to build from the ground up.
    Dive safely, John Joly
