DOF Subsea scraps India newbuilds

Welder

DOF Subsea has cancelled two newbuild subsea construction vessels it had on order at Tebma Shipyard in India.

“DOFs subsidiary DOF Subsea has today decided to cancel two contracts for building of hull no 123 and 124,” said the company in a statement.

Installments already paid to the yard are secured by bank guarantees, added the statement.

“The boats are delayed,” said DOF Subsea Managing director Mons Ase to Reuters.

“The first boat was supposed to be delivered a few months ago and we are unsure when it will be delivered now,” he said explaining the reason behind the cancellation.

Neither of the boats had secured a contract.

Earlier this year the company also cancelled its order for a newbuild multi-purpose supply vessel from Tebma.
